Government of Canada invests $120,000 to enhance the Queensway Park in St. Jacobs

November 19, 2022 – St. Jacobs, Ontario - Community infrastructure is at the heart of local communities, bringing together residents and visitors alike, while supporting local businesses, jobs and economies.

Today, on behalf of the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), Tim Louis, Member of Parliament for Kitchener-Conestoga, announced an investment of $120,000 to enhance the Queensway Park in St. Jacobs under the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF). With this investment, The St. Jacobs Business Improvement Areacreate (BIA) plans to create a multi-purpose community green space beside the public library in downtown St. Jacobs.

This support will allow The St. Jacobs BIA to create a multi-purpose community green space which will increase access for persons with mobility concerns, create a space for artisans and artists to showcase works, provide a venue for small cultural events, reduce the town's environmental footprint and generally provide a safe gathering space.

• Located just outside of Waterloo, Ontario, along the Conestoga River, the Village of St. Jacobs is filled with authentic sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and incredible one-of-a-kind shopping, that are sure to re-inspire the soul.
• The project will be completed in partnership with the Township of Woolwich Economic Development office who will contribute $10,000 toward project costs. The St. Jacobs BIA is contributing $33,000 towards project costs.
• The project will support planting trees, installation of permeable surfaces, installation of a performance/display space including seating and construction of accessible paths.
With a national investment of $500 million over two years, the Canada Community Revitalization Fund supports projects that build new community infrastructure and revitalize existing assets, bring people back to public spaces safely, create jobs and stimulate local economies. This includes $139 million for projects in southern Ontario, delivered by FedDev Ontario.
