My Statement on The Proud Boys

Statement from MP Tim Louis on the Proud Boys and extreme terrorism

Violent extremism has no place in Canada.

Our government has identified 13 ideologically motivated extremist groups. These groups have been placed on the Criminal Code list of terrorist entities.

The Proud Boys are now considered a terrorist group in Canada.

Canada is sending a strong message that we will not tolerate extremism. Free speech does not allow hate speech.

Racism and intolerance are unfortunate realities throughout our country. This is not what our nation stands for, this is not who we are. We must acknowledge the real experiences of discrimination that people face every day, and work to fix these systemic and societal realities.

As your Member of Parliament, I recognize my responsibility to flatten social inequalities through dialogue and proactive measures. I am committed to continuing to learn, raise awareness, and fight injustices by taking action.

Our government is committed to keeping Canadians safe and protecting their rights and freedoms while preserving the open and inclusive character of our country.
